Fort Delaware : Located on Pea Patch Island in the Delaware River, Fort Delaware is a stopping point for avid Civil War buffs. Operated by Union forces, it served as a prison for captured Confederate soldiers and at one point held 17,000 inmates.

Today, much of the prison has been restored and the Fort serves as a living museum depicting the Civil War.
